Geography of Teghra

Teghra in Begusarai is located at an average elevation of 48 meters above sea level and coordinates at 25°29'0" North and 85°57'0" East. It is located 22 KM towards west from the district headquarters of Begusarai and around 130 KM from the state capital of Patna. Teghra is surrounded by Bhagwanpur Block towards North, Barauni Block towards East, Bachhwara Block towards North and Mokama Block towards South.

One can easily reach Teghra through roadways. Currently, many buses connect Begusarai through Tegra. Barauni Junction railway station is the nearest major railway station located just 5 KM from the town.

Culture of Teghra

Maithili is the local language spoken here along with Hindi and Urdu. As per the census of 2011, Teghra has the population of 56,234 of which 29,687 are males and 26,547 are females. Hindus constitute a majority of the population as 80% followed by Muslims being 20%. The literacy rate in the town is 67.57% which is a little higher than the state average of 61.8%.

Kabar Jheel in the neighboring Manjhaul is a unique freshwater ox-bow lake and is home to varied flora and fauna.
